Fathering Adventures
from July 4th, 2009
An ambitious new initiative, Fathering Adventures, aims to turn the
hearts of fathers to their children, and the hearts of children to
their fathers.
Statistics reveal that 40% of children grow up at least at some point
in their lives without a father in the home. A further 40% of children
tell researchers that they don’t feel close with their dads. Although
their fathers are in the home physically, they are absent in every
other way… mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Only the remaining
20% of children are fortunate enough to have involved fathers.
Research reveals that children with involved, loving fathers are
significantly more likely to do well in school, have healthy
self-esteem, exhibit empathy and pro-social behaviour, and avoid
high-risk behaviours such as drug use, truancy, and criminal activity
compared to children who have uninvolved fathers. Sadly, research also
reveals that on average, a child spends only eight minutes per day with
his or her father.
A child spells LOVE, “T-I-M-E”, and eight minutes per day, does not,
and cannot answer this question in a healthy, life-giving way.
Fathering Adventures believes that prevention is better than cure and
uses the stunning beauty of Tropical North Queensland as its backdrop
to offer 5-night father-son and father-daughter adventures featuring
professionally guided outdoor activities such as white-water rafting,
snorkelling, dual sea kayaking, and hiking.

The Secret Life of Birth
from May 5th, 2009
The Secret Life of Birth is a unique workshop that explores the taboos of trauma and the self-transfiguring power of birthgiving. ‘The Secret' combines the ground-breaking research of Dr Gregg Lahood (who has spent many years researching the trans/personal dimensions of childbirth) with a facilitated collaborative inquiry into self-generated healing.
The workshop is for anyone interested in the wonders childbirth - including midwives, doulas mothers and partners, therapists, healers, counselors and especially those who feel they were wounded in any way at birth-giving (women and men). There is a vast unspoken and unexplored world of interference at birth that can trigger earlier wounds around sexuality and loss of autonomy. We tend to down-play the wounds of birthgiving because the birth of our child catapults us into feelings of relief and the demands of parenting. Gregg's research shows that even after 50 years people discover that the emotional charge still remain and people can remember with vividness where they were hurt or dis-empowered. Beyond trauma, The Secret life of Birth is also a radical celebration of total incarnation, embodied and relational spirituality in a sacred world. Click here to find a workshop near you...more

Being Born in Love
Birthshops with Elena Tonetti Australian & New Zealand Tour February & March 2009
Many of us know what a blessing it is for a baby to be born gently and in love. But most of us did not have this ideal start ourselves. How might this first imprint have affected us, and our capacity for love, joy and self-acceptance?
Elena Tonetti, maker of the acclaimed film Birth as We Know It offers us the opportunity to reprogram the imprint of our own birth by working with our emotional (limbic) brain, in a safe and supported space. Through this work, we can alter our primal imprint and open to more ongoing joy and pleasure in our lives. This work will benefit anyone who works with birth, who will birth in the future, or who has been born! The experience of being reborn in love can have a profound impact in all areas of our lives, and also can help to clear fears and blocks for pregnant couples and for those who work with birth.
Elena will be presenting her two-day workshops in Brisbane/Byron Bay, Bellingen, Melbourne, Perth, and Auckland in Feb/March, dates as below.
For more information, see www.birthintobeing.com Elena will also be showing her astonishing film, Birth as We Know It, which includes Elena’s wisdom on 'conscious birth', and an honest and accurate map of how to get there. You can view an excerpt of Elena’s film here.

Elena says 'We come into this world wide open to give and receive love and when that is our primal experience, our nervous system is hard-wired for the undeniable rightness of being. If our early impressions are anything less than loving, then that “anything” imprints in our nervous system as a valid experience of love, regardless of how painful those experiences might have been. And throughout our life we will subconsciously recreate the conditions and feelings that were imprinted at birth and early childhood because, in spite of all logic, that is our comfort zone.'
Dr Christiane Northrup, obstetrician, author of Women’s Bodies, Women’s Wisdom, and featured in the film Orgasmic Birth, says: 'There’s nothing quite like being in a group of 20 people all of whom intend to transform their limbic imprints and rebirth themselves or like letting Elena work her magic by creating a “birthing field”. You simply have to experience her Birthshops to understand fully— describing them doesn’t really do them justice. However, I assure you that the process is poignant, powerful, and also fun. My daughters and I were profoundly moved.' [Christiane especially invited Elena and her work so that her grown daughters could benefit]
Elena points out that her technique works because you can’t heal trauma by re-traumatizing yourself. Trauma is healed by its opposite—joy, pleasure, and love. (Dancing helps, too!)

Kindred magazine & Santos Wholefoods presents,
Kanyini - an evening with Uncle Bob Randall
Thursday 26th February, 2009 at the Byron Bay Community Centre Over 40,000 years of culture - One philosophy that connects us all.
Join one of Uluru’s listed custodial elders, Uncle Bob Randall, as he
screens his groundbreaking film Kanyini and speaks about the film and
his experiences. A very special evening not to miss. Tickets sold at
the door or by phoning the Kindred offices on 02 6684 4353.
Kanyini was voted "best documentary" at the London Australian Film Festival 2007. It was also winner of the Inside Film Independent Spirit Award and the winner of the Discovery Channel Best Documentary Award in 2006.
Kanyini is a story told by an Aboriginal man, Bob Randall, who lives beside the greatest monolith in the world, Uluru in Central Australia.
Based on Bob's own personal journey and the wisdom he learnt from the old people living in the bush, Bob tells the tale of why Indigenous people are now struggling in a modern world and what needs to be done for Indigenous people to move forward.
A tale of Indigenous wisdom clashing against materialist notions of progress, this is not only a story of one man and his people but the story of the human race.
Kanyini runs for 53 minutes and is rated PG.
