Pregnancy - The Inner Journey Workshop

24th, 25th & 26th September 2008

Homebirth Midwife of 25 years, Jane Hardwicke Collings, author of TEN MOONS - The Spiritual Journey of Pregnancy, Preparation for Natural Birth has been giving her 'Pregnancy - The Inner Journey Workshops' in the Southern Highlands (NSW) for the past five years and will be coming to Byron Shire to offer this three-day women only workshop in September 2008.

The workshop is for Midwives, Doulas and women pregnant or wanting to be.

The workshop includes rituals, craft, shamanic drum journeying, art and lots of ancient women's wisdom.

The workshop is non-residential and fully catered. Participants will receive a copy of Ten Moons.

Cost $450

For information and booking (numbers are limited) phone Jane 0408 035 808.

Jane's Pregnancy Workshop allowed me to enjoy the last month of my pregnancy free of old fears, feeling empowered, centered and ready for an intervention-free home water birth with complete confidence in my Self and my body's abilities to birth my baby.

Claire, mother of two.

This workshop was truly the beginning of a journey that was totally life changing for me.  An incredibly empowering experience for me and ultimately, my birth.

Maggie, mother of four.

As a first time mum, I found the pregnancy workshop invaluable for educating me on what to expect my body would do and this really helped me through the birthing process.  It took the unknown aspects out and demystified labour so that when things happened I felt like I was on the right path and getting closer to the end result of having my baby in my arms.

One of the most profound things that I got from the workshop was that labour was a team effort, a dance between myself and my baby. After one of the meditations where I travelled to meet my baby I felt such a sense of team effort in the birthing process that was to come.  Before the workshop, when my fears came up I had felt very lonely and like I had to do this all on my own so it was a huge break through for me.  I carried this feeling of togetherness through the birth.

Heidi, first-time mother.

Sitting in a sacred space with women for three days was a truly beautiful experience. Jane's workshop affirmed and empowered my knowledge and practices as a doula, and gave me so much practical and spiritual information that continues to enhance my life as a mother.

Trisha, Doula.

Healthy Bodies, Healthy Brains Seminar

Saturday 21st June, 2008

What is learning?

How do we learn?

How can a child appear intelligent, yet have learning difficulties?

Do you know a child with ADHD, allergies, asthma or autism?

How does the food we eat affect the functioning of our brains?

Speakers will address these questions and more at the Healthy Bodies, Healthy Brains seminar, to be held in Moruya, NSW on the Saturday 21st of June.

The seminar is being presented by a group of mothers, seeing the increasing incidence of health and behavioural difficulties in our children as a “cry for help”. The seminar has the support of the Mindd Foundation (Metabolic Immunologic Neurologic Digestive Disorders), a non-profit health promotion trust. www.mindd.org

Topics to be covered include Bio-Medical Practice (Dr Lily Tomas, bio-medical doctor, Pambula), a DVD of Dr Natasha Campbell-McBride’s presentation on The Gut-Brain Connection from the Mindd Forum on Children, held in Sydney in May last year, Movement and Sensory Integration (Mariane Judd, Psychologist and Extra Lesson Practitioner, Canberra), Auditory Processing and Sound Therapy (Harry Armytage, Canberra), Visual Processing and Behavioural Optometry (Craig Cameron, Optometrist) and Structural Development (Alexandra Johnson, Chiropractor).

The well-known local chef, Roger Bailey has agreed to make a guest appearance, demonstrating some healthy snacks, and local herbalist, Alison Walsh will offer some practical nutritional advice for parents.

Neurophysiological research supports the importance of play in developing fine and gross motor coordination and sensory development (visual, auditory, vestibular and proprioception) in the child’s early years as a foundation for later learning.

A small expo associated with the event will provide information on healthy living, bio-dynamic farming and books for sale from the Mindd Foundation supporting diet and nutrition.

For further information and bookings contact seminar coordinator, Rosalind Veness on 02 4474 3112.

Vaccination - Uncovering the Truth

Speaker: Dr Viera Scheibner

Sunday 15th June, 2008

Nature Care College, St Leonards NSW

10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Bookings:  Call the Nature Care College, on 02 9438 3333

Millions of Australians were given a polio vaccine infected with remnants of a cancer-causing virus. Scientists knew the dangers but released the vaccine anyway.’

- Sydney Morning Herald, 23/10/04.

In recent years there has been an overwhelming push for vaccination, which is repeatedly highlighted in the media. We are expected to assume that the vaccines are safe and effective, even though the evidence we see around us shows that this is not so.

Most people know of vaccinated children still getting a disease they were supposed to be protected against, sometimes severely and/or more than once, and all around us there are people with disabilities which the parents have often seen was caused by a vaccination.

Unvaccinated children, in comparison, have robust health, rarely getting these diseases (as the diseases had virtually disappeared by the time vaccines were introduced), and when they do, they fly through them. Also, disabilities of any kind, and other health problems such as asthma and childhood cancer are virtually unheard of amongst them.

Yet even when the occasional headlines like that above leak out, little thought as to what one can conclude on a larger scale about the trustworthiness of the "authorities" stirs in the community, and most people blindly keep doing it because of the sheep mentality most of us have had at some stage, of "that is what you are supposed to do".

This seminar will address the question of what risks you are taking if you do trust the "authorities" with the lives of your children and allow them to be vaccinated. What evidence is there that they are causing such problems as asthma, glue ear, allergies, autoimmune diseases, autism, ADHD, learning problems, a host of disabilities, and serious adverse effects such as paralysis, cancer and death?

It will also address the question of whether you are indeed risking anything by not allowing them to be vaccinated. In other words, do vaccines really assist the immune system, or do they only derail the immune system, not only increasing susceptibility to the disease itself, but also to other infections?
Dr Scheibner displays in her talks great energy, an endearing personality and an obvious sense of humour (which is necessary to counter the pain of researching and writing on a subject like this). However the most important feature of her seminars is that they consist almost entirely of referrals to pages of actual medical journal articles (as well as her own researched infant breathing pattern data) that are copied and projected onto a screen, from which she reads blatant revelations of the truth (including her most recent discoveries). So you can see clearly that she is not making anything up (not that she would have any reason to anyway, of course, but some people will say anything to discredit her!) and you will be shocked to see how much vaccines are implicated in various health problems without the link ever reaching the media (or even most doctors for that matter).

Come to a seminar so you can make an informed decision that will affect the health of your children and in turn, their children.

Every current or future parent should attend a seminar by Dr Scheibner.

For bookings, call the Nature Care College, on 02 9438 3333.

For more information on this important event, go to the Vaccination Information Service website.

Books/DVDs: A large selection of books & DVDs will be available at the seminar.

Screenings of The Future of Food

Who is controlling our food? Kindred magazine presents an Australian screening of The Future of Food, a brilliant must-see documentary which examines the complex web of market and political forces that are changing what we eat. The film, produced by Deborah Koons Garcia, is a chilling investigation into the Genetically Modified Organisms and foods that have quietly filled the grocery store shelves, and the multinational corporations that are seeking to control the world's food system.
